Best Time to Visit Antalya’s Beaches

While Antalya enjoys a Mediterranean climate year-round, the best time to visit its beaches is during the summer months, from June to September, when the weather is hot and sunny. However, for those looking to avoid crowds, the shoulder seasons of spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures and fewer tourists. May and October are probably the best months to avoid crowds but still enjoy warm weather!

Regardless of when you choose to visit, Antalya’s beaches promise a memorable and rejuvenating experience.

Exploring Antalya’s Surrounding Area

Beyond its captivating beaches, Antalya’s surrounding area boasts an abundance of natural wonders and historic sites waiting to be explored. Travellers can embark on day trips to discover the breathtaking landscapes of the Taurus Mountains or explore ancient ruins such as the ancient city of Perge, where impressive Roman remains offer a glimpse into the region’s storied past. Additionally, outdoor enthusiasts can hike a section of the Lycian Way, a long-distance trail that winds its way along the rugged coastline, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the opportunity to immerse oneself in the region’s natural beauty.

Environmental Education and Conservation Efforts

Antalya is not only a destination for leisure and relaxation but also a hub for environmental education and conservation efforts. With its pristine coastline and diverse ecosystems, the region is home to a wealth of marine life, including sea turtles such as loggerheads and green turtles. Local organizations and initiatives work tirelessly to protect these vulnerable species and their habitats, offering educational programs and conservation projects aimed at raising awareness and fostering a sense of stewardship among visitors and locals alike.

Peak Season and Off-Peak Alternatives

While the peak summer season draws crowds of sun-seekers to Antalya’s beaches, there are plenty of off-peak alternatives for those seeking a quieter and more secluded experience. Travellers can explore hidden coves and small bays along the coast, where they can enjoy a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Additionally, off-season visits offer the opportunity to experience local life and culture at a more relaxed pace, with fewer tourists and a chance to connect with the region’s authentic charm.

Accommodation Options and Boutique Hotels

Antalya offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit every traveller’s preferences and budget. From luxury resorts overlooking the sea to boutique hotels nestled within the historic Old Town, there’s no shortage of places to stay in Antalya. Many beachfront properties offer direct access to the sand, allowing guests to wake up to the sound of waves lapping against the shore and enjoy uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean Sea. For a truly unique experience, travellers can opt to stay in a traditional Ottoman-style mansion or a charming guesthouse tucked away in the winding streets of the Old Town.

Where to Stay in Antalya

Here are a few places I’d consider booking for your trip to Antalya!

  • Sibel Hotel – This is the perfect spot to stay if you’re after a hotel that’s near the airport and city centre of Antalya! It has a lovely garden and spacious rooms for the price point.
  • Kadir’s Top Tree Houses – If you’re after a unique place to stay, then look no further. Stay in nature, a 1km hike from Olympos Beach and enjoy rustic rooms above the ground. It’s no luxury accommodation but certainly a memorable one!
  • Koala Bungalows – This is another spot close to Olympos Beach (about 3km away) and it’s certainly a tad fancier. You also can’t beat this price for a hotel in the area.

Antalya is easily accessible by air, with Antalya Airport serving as the main gateway to the region. Direct flights from major cities across Europe and the Middle East make it convenient for travellers to reach Antalya from virtually anywhere in the world. Once in Antalya, getting around is straightforward, with taxis, buses, and rental cars readily available for transportation within the city and beyond.
