Toronto Weekend Getaways (Summer/Fall 2020)
Summer is going to be a lot different this year but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy all of the beautiful places around Toronto! So let’s jump into some Toronto weekend getaways that are perfect for summer and fall 2020!
Forks of the Credit Provincial Park
Distance from Toronto: 1hr
If you’ve yet to explore Ontario’s Provincial Parks, now’s the time! With restrictions recently being lifted and hiking/walks etc allowed again, you need to check out this spot! Forks of the Credit truly surprised me with a moderate hike to Cataract Falls. The hike alone is beautiful with lots of Trilliums (our Provincial flower), bodies of water and a stream along the way.
This place gets busy on weekends and finding parking can be difficult so if you have a day off during the week, try to go then! If not, I’d suggest going fairly early or in the late afternoon to avoid the crowds!
Caledon has many other awesome trails, golf courses and more so you can definitely make a fun weekend out of it.
Mono Cliffs Provincial Park
Distance from Toronto: 1.5 hrs
Mono Cliffs is a great spot to escape to during the fall when the leaves are changing colour! The trail itself didn’t offer anything too unique but it’s close to Cannings Falls in Mono, another spot I’ll be adding to my Toronto summer bucket list this year!
Flower Fields
Distance from Toronto: Depends on the fields that are open!
Last summer I went to Edwards Farm Store and had the best time frolicking around the sunflowers! At the time of writing this post (May 26th), I don’t think any of the farms are open other than for curbside pickup. With that being said, things are changing day to day so keep an eye out because you might be able to catch some of the sunflowers in August!
Terre Bleu is a lavender farm just about an hour from Toronto (in Milton) but it’s currently closed to the public. Check out their website for updates here.
Hamilton Waterfalls
Distance from Toronto: 1 hr
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again! Hamilton has HUNDREDS of waterfalls just waiting to be explored! Despite its reputation, Hamilton has a lot of beauty and can be a cool spot for a weekend getaway.
Find an Airbnb for a few nights and go chasing waterfalls!
Once restrictions are lifted and we can start mingling in larger groups, check out this stunning lakefront Airbnb.
Grand BendÂ
Distance from Toronto: 3-3.5 hrs
Grand Bend is the best beach town you’ll find in Ontario, making it one of my favourite Toronto weekend getaways! While the beaches might not be open at the moment, you’ll still get to enjoy a view of the crystal clear and BLUE water from Lake Huron. It’s a nice break from the Lake Ontario water most of us are used to!
Stay in an Airbnb and enjoy walking around this quaint town.
Niagara
Whether you’re going for a bike ride along Niagara on the lake, enjoying the wineries (once they open up!) or walking along beaches/trails in Niagara, you’re bound to have a great time!
If all else fails, check out AllTrails for the best hikes and trails near you.

Until next week.
