Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is a vibrant metropolis bursting with energy, history, and culture. As one of Vietnam’s most iconic destinations, choosing the best place to stay in Ho Chi Minh City can greatly enhance your experience in this bustling city. From luxury hotels in the heart of the city center to budget-friendly accommodations in vibrant districts, there are options to suit every traveller’s preferences. So if you’re wondering “where is the best place to stay in Ho Chi Minh City?”, you’re in the right place!
Exploring the Best Areas
When it comes to the best places to stay in Ho Chi Minh City, several areas stand out for their convenience, accessibility, and attractions. The city center, with its iconic landmarks such as Notre Dame Cathedral and the Opera House, is a popular choice for tourists. Here, you’ll find a plethora of luxury hotels offering unparalleled comfort and convenience. Among them, the Park Hyatt Saigon and the Rex Hotel are renowned for their impeccable service and central location.
For those seeking a more tranquil retreat, Thao Dien, located along the Saigon River, offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Luxury riverside villas and boutique hotels dot the area, providing guests with breathtaking views and serene surroundings.

Exploring Beyond the City Limits
While Ho Chi Minh City offers a wealth of attractions, venturing beyond its borders reveals even more treasures waiting to be discovered. A day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels offers insight into Vietnam’s wartime history, while a visit to the Mekong Delta provides a glimpse into rural life along the iconic river.
The Cu Chi Tunnels, located just outside the city, offer a fascinating glimpse into Vietnam’s wartime past. This intricate network of underground tunnels served as a crucial lifeline for the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Today, visitors can explore a portion of the tunnels, gaining insight into the ingenuity and resilience of the Vietnamese people.
Another popular day trip destination is the Mekong Delta, a vast network of rivers, swamps, and islands teeming with life. Here, you can cruise along the waterways, visit traditional villages, and sample fresh produce at bustling markets.
