Best Cape Town Hotel – The Radisson RED

spellbound travels best cape town hotel the radisson red

Cape Town is home to many different hotels, making it hard to choose the right one. You want to stay in a place that ticks all the boxes – is in a great location, has clean rooms and kind staff, fits within your budget and might even have a nice view! As someone who’s spent the past few months staying in hostel dorm rooms, I was looking for an escape where I could kick back, relax and enjoy all that Cape Town has to offer. Enter the best Cape Town hotel – The Radisson RED.

Why I Loved the Radisson RED

While my two-night stay wasn’t nearly long enough, I got to experience a lot! Here are some of the standouts:

The Rooftop

It goes without saying that the Radisson RED has the best rooftop in Cape Town! I’m always surprised by how few rooftops there are in this city, especially with panoramic mountain and ocean views. I had always been a little disappointed by the rooftops in Cape Town until I came to the Radisson RED!

The rooftop has one of the best views in Cape Town. You can see the entire V&A waterfront, the city bowl, Table Mountain and watch the sunset go down behind Signal Hill.

The Room

I stayed in a suite while I was at the Radisson RED. The room was gorgeous, featuring a beautiful bathroom, table and chairs for a workstation and by far the comfiest bed I’ve slept in since I arrived in Cape Town months ago! The staff was kind enough to leave a welcome card as well with a bottle of wine, popcorn and vegan chocolate – which I thought was a really nice touch.

The Location

Cape Town is known for the V&A Waterfront. It’s a busy area with lots of shops and restaurants, as well the harbour where you can go on a boat cruise. My favourite part of the waterfront is the Oranjezicht Market which is open during the day on weekends and on Wednesday evenings in the summer.

Unique Guest Experiences

I’m always looking for unique experiences or activities where I can learn something new. The Radisson RED has a gin mixing experience where they explain how gin is made and allow you to mix different botanicals to create the cocktail of your dreams! Oh, and you also get to walk away with your own bottle of gin at the end.

The Food

As someone who doesn’t expect much from hotel breakfasts, I have to say that the Radisson RED blew me away with their selection. They had a full buffet of yogurt, fruits, granola, cereals, breakfast wraps, sandwiches, toast, a variety of jams and peanut butter and more! I also tried out some of the food from the restaurant attached to the hotel (Oui Bar & KTCHN) and loved it all.

Final Verict

I’m not easily impressed by hotels but the Radisson RED exceeded my expectations! It’s definitely the best Cape Town Hotel you’ll come across and I’d recommend checking it out for yourself. Feel free to DM me on Insta if you have any questions and you can book your stay with the Radisson RED here!
